Offsetting CO2: what are we talking about?

When we talk about CO2 compensation, we refer to the possibility of reducing part of the emissions produced by human activity in the environment. This is possible by purchasing "security" generated by some projects whose implementation has reduced levels of CO2.
These projects, which aim to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG), must necessarily cover areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, afforestation and reforestation and must follow a rigorous process of analysis, validation and verification of internationally recognized certification standards.

As shown in the flowchart, the steps that the intervention / project must take in order to generate VER credits (Voluntary/Verified Emission Reduction) and / or CERs (Certified Emission Reduction), regardless of the certification standards adopted are verified by external certification bodies. At the end of this process and prior to purchasing so that the offset of the previously calculated carbon footprint is effective, the purchased credits will be sent back/ canceled at the platform where the exchange took place.
The customer can then personally verify that the purchased certificates are not sold multiple times and can see that CARBON HIVE has sent back/canceled them on their behalf. Once again, the transparency of the entire process is insured.
